REPORT

International Yoga Day, observed on June 21st each year, holds significant importance for promoting the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of yoga worldwide. This day was established in 2015 by the United Nations after a proposal from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who highlighted the practice's cultural heritage and health advantages. The guest speaker is Ms Rani Sivvam who is AP Sri Yoga State Coordinator and practices Art of living. Some key points why yoga day is to be observed was mentioned by her.

1.   Global Awareness of Health and Wellness: Yoga offers holistic health benefits, improving strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Celebrating Yoga Day emphasizes a preventative approach to health, highlighting the importance of mental and physical well-being.

2.   Mental Health Benefits: Yoga is known to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression through breathing exercises, meditation, and mindfulness, which are integral parts of many yoga practices. The day promotes these practices, reminding people of non-invasive ways to improve mental health.

3.   Cultural Heritage: Originating in ancient India, yoga is one of the country's key cultural exports. International Yoga Day highlights yoga’s rich history and contribution to wellness, bridging cultures and traditions.

4.   Community Building: Celebrating this day unites millions worldwide in practicing yoga together, fostering community, inclusivity, and respect among people from different backgrounds and beliefs.

5.   Sustainable Lifestyle Promotion: Yoga Day advocates for a balanced lifestyle, teaching practices that are sustainable and help people lead simpler, more intentional lives, thus promoting peace and harmony within communities.

Miss Tanusri joined Vizag volunteers in and did Beach Cleanup at Kalam Point Visakhapatnam. She worked in cleaning the Beach and also created awareness to the people there.  

Her services were very much appreciated.
