Report on WORLD WATER DAY AT GITAM

World Water Day – 2026 Programme

The Department of Life Sciences, Environmental Science Division, GITAM School of Science, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Visakhapatnam, in association with the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), organized a programme on the occasion of World Water Day – 2026. The event was held on 18th March 2026 with the theme “Water and Sanitation’s Role in Gender Equality.”

Students from St. Joseph’s College for Women actively participated in the programme. The event aimed to create awareness about the critical importance of water conservation, sanitation, and their direct impact on achieving gender equality. Various informative sessions, discussions, and awareness activities were conducted to highlight how access to clean water and sanitation facilities empowers women and promotes social equity.

Participants gained valuable insights into sustainable water management practices and the role of individuals in protecting water resources. The programme also emphasized the need for collective responsibility in addressing water-related challenges.

Certificates of participation were awarded to the students in recognition of their active involvement. Overall, the programme was highly informative and inspiring, encouraging students to contribute towards environmental sustainability and social well-being.
