Summary:
The topics dealt started Balanced
diet. Energy requirements and recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for children,
adults, pregnant and lactating women was thoroughly discussed by mam. BMR and
factors affecting food intake were narrated. Determination of Calorific values of foods by
bomb calorimeter was explained. Specific dynamic action of foods. Later mam
discussed about Sources of complete and incomplete proteins. Biological value
of proteins. Malnutrition- Kwashiorkar, Marasmus and PEM.
She also gave brief
account on vitamins and minerals, the need to take them and daily requirements
were taught to the second BBC students.
