RATIONALE

Very good evening to our Principal Dr Sr Shyji, Vice principal, Sr Hema, chief guest for today’s Program, Mrs Jayshree Bhutoria mam, Member of Bioenzymes Enterprises and Bioenzyme Council.  Heads of the departments, Faculties and participants,  a very good evening to one and all.

The Department of Biochemistry has always been active in creating awareness among the public and students on important days like that of today and spread the word which is required for the day. So today we are here to observe National Science Day, which is celebrated marking the Discovery of Raman Effect by our Indian Physicist, Sri C.V Raman. He won Noble prize for the same in the year 1930. The first National Science Day was observed in 1986, as Government of India was asked by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication to observe this Day. Since then every Indian school or organization is being asked to observe the day and a theme is given for the same.

The National Science Day-2023 theme is 'Global Science for Global Wellbeing' emphasizing the importance of scientific research and innovation in addressing global challenges and promoting human wellbeing. In this era, Bioenzymes which are natural cleaners produced by fermentation of natural materials can contribute a lot towards Sustainable living and Safe environment.

We all are aware that Science is a way of understanding ourselves and as we all  appreciate the new underlying principles and applications of the simplest thing of science, then  we all can be  contributors for Global WELLBEING.

Bioenzymes are eco-friendly, user-friendly, pocket friendly multi-purpose natural cleaners. These can be made from natural elements by fermentation fruit peels and vegetable peels etc.

The enzymes released by breakdown the organic wastes and  convert them into carbon dioxide and water. These microbial bioenzymes are easy to be used for washing clothes or bathroom washers. They can penetrate even the crevices and clean the dirt. They can hydrolyze lipids from stains.

Making of bioenzymes- take a closed container, preferably a container that can be sealed. Take 10 parts water and mix it with 1 part jaggery. Then add 3 parts of citrus peels. You can add any type of peels but keep the proportion same. Leave it for 3 weeks and if we observe the bottle it will show 3 layers. Upper thin layer which is the source for bioenzyme, middle hazy layer and the bottom thick pulpy layer. The upper layer can be diluted 10 times and used as bioenzyme.

Several recipies were discussed as bioenzymes have wide range of applications. Like usage in hair shampoo, bathroom cleaners, scalp cleaner etc. The lecture was very interactive.

The lecture was very interactive and many students asked quiries. A students who is working on a project on bioenzymes shared her views and difficulties which the guest speaker cleared.

Mam has demonstrated the bioenzymes that she prepared at home and she herself at home has 33 liters of ready to use bioenzymes which she uses to clear river water.

The session closed with feedback from students and national anthem
