OUTREACH ACTIVITY WITH FIRST AND SEOND YEAR BBC STUDENTS

The first year ad second year BBC students participated in the outreach activity. It was an activity in which they had to prepare soap and distribute it along with some clothes which are left used in their home at the end of the year as a part of Pre-Christmas celebrations. The students prepared soap by saponifying coconut oil in the lab using NaOH by head method and this was left for 24hour (from 21st afternoon to 22nd evening) and then packed in butter paper. This was wrapped along with clothes and some biscuits in paper and distributed in the areas of Gnanpuram road side people, 8th platform of railway station and station road. Many abandoned old people were seen and the homeless people were given by the students.

Total number of students- 2nd year’s- 20, first years- 28.

Prechristmas celebrations with Students of BBC and HSc

 The 2nd BBC students and 2nd Home science students were taken to Juvenile home for Pre-christmas celebrations along with students of Community collge

from 2nd BBC- Miss Mary Das, Miss Naomi, Ms. Sanju priya

from 2nd Home science Ms. Sravani and Miss Renuka participated

students sag carols, did dance performances and entertained the students there

Introductory Note-

The aim of having Alumni meet every year during the 2nd week of December is to interact with the Alumni, learn their progression and get some inputs about their present situations. They can give feedback on the present curriculum and even share their thoughts on latest trends in fields of the course that they have studied. The feedback given will be discussed and maybe incorporated after resolutions in academic meetings.

Report

 

Dr P. Mary Anupama, Incharge Head, Dept. of Biochemistry welcomed the gathering and thanked alumni for sparing their valuable time. College anthem was sung by Miss Vaishali, Alumnae of BBC (2019 passout). This was followed by Welcome address by Dr A. Veerabrahmam, Incharge Head of Biotechnology department, then welcome address by Dr P. Mary Anupama and then by Dr Mousami Shankar Addala, Assistant Professor, Dept of Biochemistry.

After the formal welcome a video of Alumni pics was shared which had their pics and present position (academics or Job title) of 2018 to 2021 pass out students. The 2nd BBC students shared a skit _ A Day at college that touched all the alumni which was followed by video of their journey by s. Vaishali the key member of their girl band Vegsas.

The 1st and 2nd BBC students shared skits, dances and songs for their seniors.

 

Feedback time was completely filled with sharing their memories at SJC and how the curriculum was useful to them. Many students shared their experiences and their memories in college at in the Biochemistry and Biotechnology labs.

The meeting was joined by Dr Manikya Kumari mam, HOD of Botany who has narrated her experiences with the course and then by Dr Sarada mam, HOD of Chemistry who cherished her memories with students. Both the faculties request the Alumni to stay in touch and let us know their progression.

The meeting finally concluded with Vote of thanks by both the departments Incharge heads.
