Report:
The first year BBC students
has to learn the concept of determination of Absorption maxima UV-Visible
spectrophotometer and also get exposure to the equipment used in Biochemistry
at higher education level. The Head of the department of Biochemistry at Andhra
University, Prof. Subhashini mam gave her consent for the same. The 50 students
of first BBC were taken to the seminar hall of the department and Prof.
Subhashini mam addressed the students and gave them briefing about what
Biochemistry is about and the scope of research in this field. Then the two scholars
allotted, Mr Prasad and Ms.Felicity explained the principle behind spectroscopy
and explained about need to determine Absorption maxima for nucleic acids.
Mr Satyanayana along with Mr
Rajesh demonstrated using DNA and Protein sample the same. The students were
also shown the equipment present in the labs and their usage.
The students were given data
of OD values using which the students had to submit records to their faculty
coordinators.
